1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Interactive Stories ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Interactive Stories is a platform that enables users to create, share, and play AI-generated interactive gamebook stories. The Service includes story generation, image generation, story mutations (derivative works), and community features.

3. User Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account
  • You may not share your account credentials with others

4. User-Generated Content

4.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of the stories and content you create. By making content public, you grant us and other users certain rights as described below.

4.2 License Grant for Public Content

When you make a story public, you grant:

  • To Us: A non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your content on the platform
  • To Other Users: The right to view, play, and create derivative works (mutations) of your public stories

This license is similar to Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY). Derivative works will maintain attribution links to your original story.

4.3 Private Content

Private stories remain accessible only to you. We will not share or display private content to other users.

4.4 Prompt Privacy

The original generation prompts used to create stories remain private and are only accessible to the story owner, even when the story itself is public.

5. Story Mutations

The platform allows users to create "mutations" (derivative works) of public stories:

  • Any user may create mutations of any public story
  • Mutations maintain attribution links to the original story
  • The original story's generation prompt is not shared with mutation creators
  • Mutations become independent stories owned by the creator
  • Original story owners cannot prevent mutations of their public stories

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Create content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, or harassing
  • Generate content that exploits minors
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Distribute malware or engage in phishing
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  • Use the Service for commercial spam or advertising
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

7. AI-Generated Content

Stories and images are generated using AI services (Google Gemini, OpenAI). You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
  • Generated content may not always align with your prompts
  • We do not guarantee the quality or appropriateness of generated content
  • You are responsible for reviewing content before making it public

8. Usage Costs and Billing

  • Story and image generation incur costs based on AI provider pricing
  • Your account balance reflects accumulated generation costs
  • We reserve the right to modify pricing with reasonable notice
  • Unused credits or balances may expire as specified in your account

9. Content Moderation

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms or is otherwise inappropriate. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate our policies.

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the Service itself without permission.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE. USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these terms.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

16. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of jurisdiction.
